Application, Install, & Maintenance

Does TORGINOL® install seamless resin-based flooring systems?

No. However, if you are interested in having a seamless floor installed, please contact our customer service team. We can recommend a professional contractor in an area near you.

What are your recommended coverage rates?

Coverage rates vary depending on product and installation technique; please refer to the specific coverage rates provided in each product’s Technical Data Sheet for recommended coverage rates. For help determining how much material you may need, please use our Coverage Rate Calculator.

What product would you recommend for outdoor applications?

Flake and Quartz are suitable for outdoor applications. It is best to avoid bold, bright colors due to premature fading. Check with your customer service representative about the most UV stable color selection.

How do I prevent glitter pieces from sticking up?

To prevent sharp Glitter pieces from sticking up after the final topcoat, we recommend a grout coat applied at 10-16 mils, followed by a light sanding of the floor to knock down any sharp edges. Then follow with the final topcoat.

Can I use Flake around pools/pool decks?

Flake is a great solution for pool decks. High-performance pool deck finishes provide superior chemical and abrasion resistance, while enhancing sanitation by protecting against mold and bacterial growth. Our materials are manufactured with colorfast UV stable pigments but may be susceptible to slight fading over time under direct sun exposure. To ensure optimal UV stability please consult your coatings manufacturer for system specifications.

How do you maintain resinous/high-performance flooring?

Daily dust mopping the floor to remove abrasive dirt is recommended. High-performance flooring is best cleaned with mild soap and water with a mop. If more aggressive cleaning is needed, use a nylon bristle brush and mild soapy water. Many cleaners contain harsh chemicals that can be damaging to your resinous floor.

Is there a temperature that’s too hot to lay down a floor? What are the best conditions to install a floor?

Optimal install conditions are 60-80 degrees Fahrenheit. Check with your coatings manufacturer for best practices. Ambient weather conditions can directly affect cure times.

Ordering

Does Torginol have minimum order quantities?

No. Torginol will customize products, services, systems, and packaging to meet the specific requirements of your business.

Can I order another company’s blends?

Unfortunately, when a company designs their own unique blend, that blend belongs to them and is not available for purchase by other customers unless approved by the company the blend belongs to. However, if you have a high-quality image or a hard sample of a floor you like, you can send it to us, and we can attempt to create a match of that blend.

Does Torginol market and sell direct to do-it-yourselfers (DIYs) and homeowners?

No. Torginol products are for professional use only. Due to the unique intricacies associated with each product, the material preparation, application, handling and storage are best left to the professional.

Does Torginol manufacture high-performance/resin-based floor coatings?

No, Torginol manufactures only the decorative components used in seamless resin-based flooring systems.

What is the standard lead time for our products?

Standard lead times are two days for order processing and productions. However, lead times are variable, so please be sure to check in with our Customer Service Team for the most accurate lead time estimates.

Does Torginol sell internationally?

Yes! If you have any questions about purchasing from outside of the United States, please reach out to our Customer Service Team at service@torginol.com.

Product

How are hybrid/terrazzo blends different from regular flake?

Our Hybrid Stone and Terrazzo Flake are series of Flake blends that feature multiple sizes with the majority of the makeup being 1/16” and the remainder being either 1/4” or 1/8” Flake. These blends resemble the look of polished concrete or terrazzo with the benefits of high-performance flooring. For application techniques, feel free to reach out to our customer service team.

How much Glitter should I add to my Flake blend?

We recommend adding Glitter at a percentage of 3% of the total weight of Flake being used.

What is the difference between the Quartz grades 40-S and 25-A?

40-S QUARTZ is primarily used in a broadcast floor system, where the QUARTZ is thrown into a pigmented basecoat until rejection. 25-A is our trowel grade, used in an epoxy mortar system where the epoxy and quartz are mixed together and troweled onto the floor. This method is extremely durable and recommended for the harshest environments.

Pool Materials

What’s the difference between Ceramic Quartz and Resin Quartz?

Ceramic Quartz is heat-fused with pigmented ceramic coating and has a bold matte finish. Resin Quartz is coated using an advanced resin system and provides a glossy and vibrant color. There is also a wider color selection for our Resin Quartz series.

Will a Quartz pool have a rough finish, or will it be smooth to the touch?

Any pool can have a smooth finish when installed properly. A combination of troweling often and gently exposing the Quartz during the acid washing process is key.

Can aggregate pool finishes be used out of water?

It is not recommended. All pool finishes use White Portland cement which is a “pond cured” material. All pool finishes should be submerged shortly after install.

What color will the finished pool water be?

Take a pool sample of your desired blend and place it in at least 6 inches of water. This will show you an approximate color but keep in mind there are many factors such as time of day, the color of structures around the pool, the blend you choose, water depth, etc. that can affect the water color.
